Castell'in Villa, Chianti Classico 2018

Flag of Italy

Castell'in Villa is owned by the formidable Princess Coralia Pignatelli della Leonessa. Coralia and her late husband, Riccardo, a diplomat, purchased this beautiful 300 hectare estate (54 hectares under vine) in Castelnuovo Berardenga, Tuescany, in 1968. A former Sienese military outpost, it encompasses olive groves and a number of smallholdings, homes to the estate’s workers and also to a family of donkeys. Chianti Classico 2018 is made from 100% Sangiovese taken from different sites across the Castell'in Villa vineyards. The grapes were hand-harvested and aged in traditional botti casks for about 12 months prior to release to enhance the wine's richness. It captures the fruit of the Sangiovese and the earthy, spicy and slightly wild traces of the soil along with refinement from the bottle age in a beautiful blend. A great wine to pair with beef or game dishes.
